Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing).
  • Profile Settings: Your hydration goals, reminder preferences, unit preferences, and notification settings.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Hydration Data: Water intake logs including amounts and timestamps.
  • Usage Data: Streaks, achievements, and daily progress toward your goals.
  • Subscription Status: Information about your premium subscription status (if applicable).

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Location data
  • Browsing history
  • Personal health records
  • Contacts or other personal files

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Hydro Hero service
  • Track your hydration progress and calculate streaks
  • Send reminder notifications (if enabled)
  • Process subscription payments
  • Improve and personalize your experience
  • Communicate with you about service updates

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Your hydration data is primarily stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage API. This data remains on your device unless you choose to sync it.

Cloud Sync

If you create an account, your data is synced to our secure servers to enable access across devices. We use Supabase, a trusted cloud platform, for data storage and authentication.

Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure password hashing
  • Access controls and authentication

Third-Party Services

Supabase

  • Purpose: Authentication, database storage, and data synchronization
  • Data Shared: Email, encrypted password, hydration data, settings

Stripe

  • Purpose: Payment processing for premium subscriptions
  • Data Shared: Email address (for receipts). Payment card details are processed directly by Stripe and never touch our servers.

Google (Optional)

Your Rights

Access and Portability (GDPR Article 15 & 20, CCPA)

You can export all your data at any time from Settings > Data & Utilities > Export Data. The export includes all hydration logs, achievements, settings, and account information in a portable JSON format.

Rectification (GDPR Article 16)

You can update your settings and preferences at any time through the Settings page.

Erasure / Right to Delete (GDPR Article 17, CCPA)

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Data & Utilities > Delete Account. This action:

  • Cancels any active subscriptions
  • Removes all data from our servers
  • Clears local extension data
  • Is irreversible

Opt-Out

You can disable reminder notifications and data sync at any time through Settings.

Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
  • Deleted Accounts: Upon account deletion, all data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
  • Local Data: Data stored locally on your device remains until you uninstall the extension or clear browser data.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our service providers (Supabase, Stripe) maintain servers. By using Hydro Hero, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Hydro Hero is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it removed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of Hydro Hero after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
